Malcolm provides strategic advice on the development and use of all types of intellectual property assets. Prior to joining Adams Pluck, from 2007 to 2016 he was the Head of IP for The Weir Group PLC, a UK-based global group of engineering manufacturing companies, where he coordinated its patent, trade mark and design portfolio, provided IP strategy, organised IP enforcement litigation, as well as compliance audits of Group companies. Prior to that, Malcolm worked at the University of Newcastle and at BHP Research where he was involved in the research, development and patenting of minerals processing improvement technologies for the company. Following this, Malcolm acted as a patent attorney for another law firm in Sydney for 9 years.
